Practice of Endodontics

  • Prerequisites
    Anatomy and histology of the teeth and surrounding tissues, infection and inflammation, healing and repair, physiology of pain, radiographic interpretation, dental caries and other pulpal irritants, indications and contraindications, commonly used drugs
  • Diagnosis and treatment planning
    Clinical tests such as percussion, palpation, mobility assessment, occlusal analysis, thermal tests, electric pulp test
  • Management of endodontic emergencies
    Clinical conditions: reversible and irreversible pulpitis, necrotic pulp, apical periodontitis and abscess: pulpotomy, pulpectomy, drainage though the tooth, supportive therapy
  • Root canal treatment
    Adequate anaesthesia, toots preparation, application of rubber dam, gain access to the pulp chamber, irrigation, determination of root canal length, cleaning and shaping including new NiTi-obturation with cold and heated gutta-percha
  • Postendodontic restoration
  • Management of procedural errors
  • Endodontic surgery
  • Adjunctive treatment
