Invitation
Dr. Pantelis Nic. Bochlogyros

No other science has changed so radically the last 10-15 years as Dentistry. The introduction of new materials and machinery, modern techniques and methods, the osseointegrated implants, the revolution in technology, the application of computers, the CAD/CAM techniques and much more have send dentistry in such levels, it was impossible to imagine some years ago. It is truth that somebody who does not follow the evolution of our science by attending congresses, reading scientific journals and mainly taking part in continuing education programmes, is impossible to offer to his patients the care, we are obliged to offer to the community.

At the same time the media and the Internet are offering to the patients all these information they need to give a solution to their problems and to restore their health. The phenomenon of the over-informed patient in our practice, who asks for a specific treatment, is not rare anymore.

Between the goals of the "Greek-German Dental Association" is the organization of continuing education programmes and it is an honor and pleasure that we may present this programme, that you are holding in your hands. Our intention is to offer "something new" and by reading the different educational opportunities included, you will find out that they contain the most modern knowledge our science offers internationally.

The continuing education cycle 2002-2003 includes 7 postgraduate programmes in Athens, with theoretical and practical part, which cover almost all parts of our science. It is completed with 4-days workshops in Germany, where participants will have the opportunity to exercise in interesting fields of dentistry, in one of the most modern university clinics in Europe.

I would like also from this place to thank the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University Witten/Herdecke Professor Dr. Peter Gangler for his friendly and productive cooperation in establishing this continuing education cycle. I would like also to thank the Board of Directors of the University who accepted our proposal for cooperation, as well as the members of the scientific staff, who accepted to take part in the different programmes. All of them are modern scientists, with great clinical and academic experience, are distinguished internationally in their specialty and have great will and ability in teaching. These main speakers will be assisted in the practical courses by Greek colleagues who have studied in Germany.

We believe we offer a valuable continuing education programme to our colleagues and I invite you to attend our 2002-2003 cycle.
